She is warm, patient, and quietly stubborn. To her, the treehouse is not just a home, but a promise: that even after everything breaks, someone is still willing to put it back together, piece by piece. She is also Winter's girlfriend, and the two of them share a language made of small repairs, shared silences, and late-night tea.

Quitta (Cat, she/her)
Quitta is one of the three founders of the treehouse. She is a cat — graceful, aloof, and always showing up exactly when someone needs quiet company. She loves catching fish in the nearby stream and having barbecue with Sonicsnail afterward, sometimes joined by Sytru.
She comes across as indifferent at first, but the people close to her know she is wordy, considerate, and deeply warm. She is aroace, so her love shows up not as romance, but as loyalty: saving the last warm patch of sunlight, remembering who likes which blanket, and standing between the people she cares about and anything that might hurt them.
Sytru (Goat, she/her)
Sytru is the third founder of the treehouse — a goat who is steady, stubborn, and always the first to notice when something needs fixing. She likes to nudge doors open with her horns, especially the ones everyone else thought were closed for good.
She knows more than anyone about the world outside the treehouse, but she is less interested in old stories than in making things useful again. To Dotty, she is both a teacher and a peer. She never talks down to him. She answers his questions seriously, and in return, he reminds her that knowledge is only worth keeping if you still care about the people you share it with.
Dotty (Snail, he/him)
Dotty is a young snail and the story's quiet questioner — soft-spoken but stubbornly determined. He lives in the treehouse surrounded by ruins, plants, a cat who sleeps in the wrong places, a goat who nudges doors open, and a firefly who is slowly teaching him how machines work.
He was not brought to the treehouse; he is part of it. He has known deep loss, but it never hardened him. Instead, he became fiercely protective of anything still alive. He speaks little, but what he asks often leaves adults speechless. For him, healing is not forgetting — it is learning to carry the wound in a shape that still lets you walk forward.
Winter (Firefly, she/her)
Winter is a firefly and the treehouse's craftsperson. She repairs the cracked walls, fixes the broken stairs, and invents small gadgets that make life in the treehouse a little easier — a better latch, a lighter lamp, a pulley for carrying firewood up the high branches.
She grew up in a firefly colony that lived underground during the larval years, in tunnels rich with minerals. Many craftsmen gathered there, and she picked up mechanical engineering the way other children pick up songs. After arriving at the treehouse, she soon began teaching Dotty what she knew, taking him on as her apprentice.
To Dotty, she is the cool, reliable older sister he always wanted. She does not talk much, but when she does, everyone listens. Both Dotty and Sonicsnail love her for that quiet strength.
